Dear Peter,

I received your information. There are some letters that appear as a small square on my screen. I wonder if that means that the letter has markings above it that do not appear on my keyboard. I had a message a few days ago from someone in Sweden (for the GERDIN name) In Swedish, as you may know, there is sometimes a small circle or two small dots for certain sounds. Their e-mail message had small boxes for those sounds instead of the correct swedish letters. It is probably because of my keyboard here in USA.

Anyway.....it was very nice to hear from you!! My name is Susi Fathauer. My maiden name is Gerdin and I use that when corresponding in my genealogy research. I was born Dec. 25, 1954. My husband is named George and his family ancestors have been traced to Johan Friderich Wilhelm Vatthauer b. 1749 in Preus Strohen, Germany. George's aunt has been doing the research for that part of the Family Tree.

I began doing family research in 1992 so I have not been at it too long. I have 2 sons (Wesley- 13 yrs. and Christopher-8 yrs. old) and they keep me busy. I am fortunate to be able to stay home full-time as a mom, homemaker, so on, but I was a teacher until I began my family. My address is: 3507 E. Manso St. Phoenix, Arizona 85044. I was not sure if you have that info. By the way....how did you know I was researching the Banholzer/Banholtzer name? I have used the computer to input all my genealogy info. but I have only begun to explore the Internet. When the boys return to school next week, I will have more time to research, etc.

My great-great grandfather was named Vincenz Banholzer and if I use the age from an 1880 census in Warrensburg, Missouri, he was born in 1852 but on the 1900 census, his birthdate is Jan. 1849 in Germany. On a daughter's birth certif. it lists his birthplace as Wurtensburg, Germany but I don't know how accurate that is or who the informant of the information was. I know about him here in Missouri from 1875 when he married my great- great grandmother Louisa Pauline Reiter. But I have not found when he immigrated, where he came in and if he was with family. Part of the reason is that I have been researching so many of my family lines in Sweden, Finland, England, and Wales and here in America that I haven't given my full attention to Vincenz (sometimes seen written as Vincent) but now I have some motivation to do more work on him.

I found your information on the Panholzer - Banholzer name very interesting. In the future I will probably have more questions about it as I fully understand my ancestor Vincenz and his family.

That's all for now so I can get this to you. Thankyou again for taking the time to call and deliver your correspondance on the computer to me.

P.S. Where are you living at this time??

Warm Regards,

Susi
